Gifts for Teachers

My oldest started preschool this year, so I have been searching for great gifts for teachers. A friend of a friend contacted me a few weeks ago because she heard I was crafty. She had seen a very cute tote bag for sale on the internet and wanted something similar to give to her son's teachers for the holidays. She felt that it was important for her to support local crafters, so she commissioned me to design a similar bag for her.

This Teacher's Tote Bag is the design I came up with. It measures approximately 15" x 13" and the handles are 14" long by 1" wide. The outside is a cream colored cotton and I used pretty Amy Butler cotton fabrics for the lining. I used Wilton® easyimageTM T-Shirt Transfers for Use on Light Fabrics to transfer the design to the front of the tote bag. The design was really easy to create using wiltoneasyimage.com. You can design just about anything you want using hundreds of images and fonts.

The tutorial for this tote bag will be available soon from Boogaboo Babies.

Handmade Gifts

I love to give handmade gifts whenever possible. Last year for Christmas I tried to give only handmade items, and while it was a lot of work it was a LOT of fun too!

This year I can't say all my gifts will be handmade (those boys in my family are so hard to craft for!) but I will try to give handmade whenever possible. Over the next few weeks I'll be posting some of my handmade gifts as I finish them, along with tutorials for the ones I'll be making from my own patterns and links to free tutorials online for others. Not all of them will require sewing expertise, but many will involve sewing or fabric in some way.

Stay tuned!

Sew,Mama,Sew! Feature

Last Christmas season I was searching for ideas for handmade gifts, as I was determined to make all my gift giving from my own craftiness. One day I stumbled upon Sew,Mama,Sew! a website/shop, blog and forums dedicated to my favorite crafty art, sewing.
During the month of November they do a series called Handmade Holidays where they post inspiring tutorials, recipes, and other handmade items each day. All the posts revolve around a certain theme which changes each day throughout the month. I used several tutorials last year for my Christmas gifts, and all my family loved them!

New Patterns and Revamped Website

It has been awhile since my last blog post, but there have been a lot of changes lately with Boogaboo Babies!
  • We started selling our patterns on Etsy, and they have been selling like hotcakes over there.
  • Two new patterns are available, both on Etsy and on our personal website. The shopping cart cover is a fantastic new pattern you are going to want! And the BOO Bags have arrived just in time for your little ghouls this Halloween.
  • Our Boogaboo Babies website has recently gotten revamped. First off, all the handmade items have been moved back over to sell on Etsy. Secondly, all our Booga Bag snack bags have now been added to inventory on both websites. Check them out here!
Stay tuned for more exciting things to come from Boogaboo Babies soon!

In other news, our firstborn little guy turned 4 yesterday. Despite spending most of his birthday on the couch with a fever from an ear infection, he had a great birthday! He is feeling much better now and is really excited for his party this weekend. He even got to enjoy his presents, including an r/c helicopter and a Leap Frog Leapster.
